We are thrilled to invite you to an evening of community and solidarity, where we will celebrate the successes of our past season and launch a sneak peek of our newest show, The Weather Underground Project, an ensemble-written piece about the explosive politics of the 1960's and 70's. As a bold vision for participatory democracy consumed the nation, the government’s aggression on foreign shores inspired a fury among those seeking a new order. Among them, a group called Weatherman led a serious charge for violent revolution, but their actions left the majority of Americans behind, pondering Just How Far Is Too Far? In The Weather Underground Project, The Assembly excavates the crumbled student movement that dominated the 1960s in a frantic and impassioned search for our own revolutionary impulse, if we ever had one at all. As we create this new piece we invite you to join the process by sharing stories of your own political engagement, your opinions towards radical action and its possibilities today, and your responses to our work-in-progress.
The Assembly is honored to host a night of wine, beer, and revelry! Before the performance, we will offer an open bar, an array of fabulous silent auction items, and we will pay homage to the golden age of rock 'n' folk by awakening the spirit of Bob Dylan. All proceeds support the premier of The Weather Underground Project, next Summer in New York City.
This interactive event will invite participants to indulge in a living, breathing community of explosive energy, collectively exploring our own willingness to take a stand in front of others, and face the repercussions. We invite you to plant your feet, raise your fist, and support our most daring project to date.
